Leah Voorhies
BIO:
Leah Voorhies began her job as Assistant Superintendent of Student Support in UT in 2017. Before becoming the Assistant Superintendent of Student Support in Utah, Leah was Glenna Gallo’s minion (when Glenna was the state director in Utah). Leah is a licensed school psychologist. She is responsible for supervising all Federal programs, including special education and Titles I-IX, as well as Prevention, School Safety, School Counseling, School-based Mental Health, Continuous School Improvement, Adult Education, Child Nutrition, and Youth in Care programs. She earned a bachelor’s degree in sociology, a master’s degree in school psychology, and a doctorate in counseling psychology. She then did post-doctoral work to earn an Education Administration/Supervision credential. Leah has been the elected Utah delegate to the National Association of School Psychology and does special education-related humanitarian work in Kenya and Central America.
Leah believes the best part about leading special education in UT is that Utah loves children, and Leah loves helping Utah adults improve outcomes for children and youth with disabilities.
